Dear Reader,

Welcome to beautiful Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Northern Germany. Situated by the Baltic Sea and near major urban hubs Hamburg and Berlin, Copenhagen in Denmark and Stettin in Poland, our state is a region abounding in natural wonders and water – a lovable, liveable place. Here we think and work towards the future, for example in the Hanseatic university cities of Rostock and Greifswald. As a location for carbon-neutral production, we have made green energy, especially hydrogen, a core focus in research and implementation. Green tech and green living are our standards and drivers for positive economic and social development, as exemplified in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’s rural regions with their many sustainably operating businesses. Our state offers children the best prospects and education, and families an attractive, liveable environment.

We stand for tradition and an awareness of our history and culture. Experience this in our capital Schwerin with its famous castle, at over 2,000 lakes in the state, and in the cultural landscapes with their parks, manor houses and historical buildings. Discover our three national parks, from the island of Rügen and its chalk cliffs to the Bodden landscape of Vorpommern, to Müritz, Germany’s largest inland lake. You will be elated. Not least because we think holistically when it comes to health. We offer clinics, treatment facilities and forests that heal.

Welcome to Mecklenburg- Vorpommern – the best of Northern Germany.

Warm regards,
Manuela Schwesig
Prime Minister of the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
